okay sorry for being fickle
and for changing things around all the time (or at least I feel like it’s all the time…)
but I have switched my primary blog over to:
janetteloves.wordpress.com
Overall, I just like it better! Sorry, Tumblr!
Thanks to the readers I have for making the switch. Xo!

easy & delicious apricot chicken
I was grocery shopping like a mad woman today (I think I bought one of everything. oops.) and my mom called me asking for a recipe. I was able to tell her about it in a matter of about a minute and she could remember it all without writing it down because it’s THAT easy!! So I thought I’d share it with you.
Ingredients:
10 oz. Red Russian Salad Dressing 12 oz. Apricot Preserves 1 package onion...
books books books
I have been a book buying FOOL lately. Jonathan and I made a deal that neither of us are allowed to purchase a book for the next month, starting today. We just get so excited about deals and good looking books… and then we’ve spent our entire bank accounts on books. Okay.. maybe it isn’t that extreme. But still. I need to read the books I have and then increase my library. Here...
25% off Mary Kay Inventory!
Hi friends,
So as some may know, I signed up to be a Mary Kay Beauty Consultant at the beginning of my summer. Life got a lot busier than I expected and with my mom’s recent diagnosis, my extra time and energy is going towards that. So.. while I will still maintain my “consultant status” I am not actively selling the product right now. If you ever want me to order you something,...

a positive diagnosis
This week, my mom was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. It came as a shock to my entire family (when does cancer ever come at a time that isn’t shocking for anyone involved?) and we’re still dealing with our initial emotions and thoughts towards it all. The only information we have so far is that it is a form of IDC (Invasive Ductal Carcinoma) and that she will definitely need chemo and...

This is wonderful! Such a neat idea. :)
reading regimen
I made mention in my previous post to my new reading regimen. I met Tadashii (a Christian hip-hop artist… maybe more on that story later) on my flight back from Florida a few weeks ago and this is similar to how he reads books. I was so inspired that I’ve started doing it for myself.
I read at least 4 new books each month following this schedule:
Week 1: A book from the New York...
Eat Pray Love
After hearing some mixed reviews on this book, I decided that I needed to pick it up. I’ve always loved reading but have neglected that particular hobby for a little while now. So, off I went to Borders bookstore and picked it up. (I also grabbed Julie & Julia, having never read it either. It was buy one, get one 1/2 off. What’s a girl to do? Buy them both, of course!)
I realize...
revived?
okay so I apparently am no good at blogging… but I want to be. So here is my attempt [again] to be better at this.
maybe I’ll post book reviews and movie reviews (because I know you’re all dying to know what I think). or maybe I’ll post recipes & good places to eat. or perhaps I will chronicle my days… where I went, what I ate, who I saw, etc. etc.
or maybe...

I'm being worked into his most excellent harmonies
I realize I’m kind of failing in the blog department lately. Not only am I not keeping my new year’s resolution, but I also have obviously given up on my commitment for lent. I feel awful about it, but blogging everyday is a little more than I can handle right now. There is so much going on these days… and I don’t say that to complain because I’m sure most of you have...

lent
I’ve spent quite a bit of time thinking of something I could give up for lent. In the past few years I’ve given up sweets or something of that nature. Instead of giving something up this year, I’ve decided to add something to my daily routine.
Each day of this season in the Christian year, I am going to write a blog. Each blog will be centered around a word that somehow (in my...

snow days
It’s snowing outside and I think I’m one of the few who isn’t thrilled about it. I don’t mind it, I guess but I’d just rather be somewhere else. School has been canceled the past few days which has been nice. I think it’s funny that we haven’t had a full week of school this semester. The first week we only had class on Thursday and Friday. The next week...

I’m sure you’ve heard me say this before but let me just tell you again.
I. LOVE. MY. JOB.
Most days are pretty chaotic and stressful, but it’s always worth it. I love seeing happy kids get off the bus knowing that they are looking forward to a great time with their teachers each week. It just blesses my heart! This doesn’t mean that some days I don’t really want to...
workshop
Today was the long anticipated (at least for me) children’s ministry workshop at my church, Lake View Park Church of the Nazarene. About two months ago I planned to host a workshop for our fantastic volunteers. I wanted to provide a time of networking and support, worship without settling kids, and a time to pass on some knowledge I gained. I knew I’d be going to the Children’s...

a few things:
1. Nashville has been wonderful. More to come in a later blog. But overall, one of the best trips I’ve had in a long time. I’ve enjoyed seeing great friends in Hendersonville and the conference was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had! I learned so much and can’t wait for God to show me how to implement it at home!
2. I am doing well with my resolutions...

resolutions pt. 2
I have finally decided on my resolutions for this year. I had thought of quite a few resolutions and realized that maybe I had too many. Then I read Michelle’s blog post with her resolutions. She has ten. This made me feel a bit better about having so many so I have ten also. Hope you don’t mind me copying you a bit, Michelle!
Some are daily changes, some are periodic… but...

…the colors of the morning are inside your eyes” (phil wickham)
I flew to Nashville, TN from Oklahoma City yesterday. I woke up at 4 am so that I could get ready and be at the airport by 5:20 so that I would catch my flight at 6:20. AM. That’s really early in case you didn’t know. I tried to go to bed by 10pm the night before but couldn’t fall asleep until 11:30....

resolutions pt. 1
I’ve been thinking the past few days about New Year’s resolutions. Usually most folks don’t keep their resolutions for more than a few months at best. Last year I said that I wouldn’t eat after 9 pm. I did awesome with this until summer rolled around. I wish I had kept up with it more. This year, I’m wondering if there are goals I can set for myself that can be...

Dear Systematic Theology final,
I’d really appreciate it if you didn’t kill me today. I know I don’t understand all of your concepts, but I’m trying. I’m doing my best here. Can’t we agree on that? Please have some mercy. And if I do poorly… remember that lecture about forgiveness. It was a good one… practice what you preach.

I don’t even know where to begin.
I am so exhausted. Only three more class days and three days of finals and I am done for a month. Praise be! This whole writing-a-paper-every-other-day-and-not-sleeping-much-thing is starting to wear me thin. Can’t I just be done and enjoy Christmas and time spent with family and friends?
Graduation is only 5 months and 7 days away. I think I...

hebrews 12:4-11 (the message)
In this all-out match against sin, others have suffered far worse than you, to say nothing of what Jesus went through—all that bloodshed! So don’t feel sorry for yourselves. Or have you forgotten how good parents treat children, and that God regards you as his children? My dear child, don’t shrug off God’s discipline, but don’t be crushed by it either....

hey stress, how’s it going? you want to stay awhile? oh, okay…. great…
so I haven’t posted lately because these past few weeks have been the busiest of the semester. Unfortunately it isn’t going to get better too soon. I have 6-7 papers due in a matter of weeks! Graduation is just over 6 months away and I am ready for that, no doubt about it… but have I told...
the epicness of bloggery
Also, Dave has started a new blog here on tumblr. read it & follow his blog. You won’t be sorry. it’s pretty entertaining.
davidcrowder:
i’d like to kick this thing off with a little honesty. it has been a struggle to decide whether a blog was even necessary. i mean, as a band, we have a myspace, a facebook, a twitter, a website, a youtube page, is there really need for a blog?...
oh happiness...
I am unbelievably happy that I was able to go see The David Crowder*Band twice last week! Both shows were incredible. The Dallas show was really great, but the Tulsa show blew the former out of the water. I have seen the DCB close to 25 times and that show in Tulsa on Friday ranks #1 on the list. It was at Cain’s Ballroom which created a really intimate atmosphere. Though people were dancing...

week[end] update
over the past few days, I have spent time with quality friends, loved on a sweet little one from church, and eaten great food. yep, that’s a good summary of my weekend.
(I realize the weekend as of now is like 3 days ago, but I had planned to blog about it on Monday… it is now Wednesday.. but you are still getting the weekend update.)
Saturday was a very successful day.

I am really glad to have a blog again. I don’t know why wordpress decided to stop allowing me to log in, but I’m kind of happy with the opportunity to start a new blog! I really like tumblr. I’m going to try and be disciplined to blog semi-often. My good friend Michelle blogs all the time and her blogs are great! Go read it: http://michmeisner.blogspot.com/
